This Independence Day, Duke Medicine will celebrate an important anniversary - one year of being tobacco free.

On Tuesday, July 1, Duke Medicine employees are invited to celebrate their dedication to becoming tobacco free at the Doris Duke Center in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens from
3-5 p.m. The event celebrates the commitment of the individuals who have quit using tobacco products.
- Duke Medicine employees must RSVP by June 27

Since the beginning of the tobacco-free initiative, Live for Life's smoking cessation programs have helped more
than 800 members of the Duke community stop smoking. Meet
some successful "quitters" and learn how you can join them...
Duke's LIVE FOR LIFE program will partner with you during every step of your journey
to freedom from tobacco. A variety of programs are available to help you meet your goals.
All tobacco cessation support services and treatment resources are available to
Duke employees and their adult dependents who are covered under a Duke health plan
(Duke Basic, Duke Select, Blue Care and Duke Options).
Note: A variety of excellent resources are still available
for spouses and same-sex partners not covered by a Duke health plan.
Nicotine Replacement Therapy and Stop Smoking Pharmaceuticals
Once you're enrolled in a LIVE FOR LIFE tobacco cessation program, you have the option of receiving nicotine

a three-month supply of the tobacco cessation prescription drugs CHANTIX (varenicline) or Buproprion with no co-pay
(a physician's prescription is required).
Physician Counseling Session
You can review your tobacco use history, personal health risks, rewards of quitting, and
options for medications and nicotine replacement therapy during a physician counseling session, also at no cost to you.
