Prescription Stop-Smoking Aids

CHANTIX or Buproprion Available at No Cost to You!
Once you're enrolled in a LIVE FOR LIFE tobacco cessation program, you are eligible for a no cost to you supply of the stop smoking prescription drug CHANTIX™ (varenicline) or Buproprion (a physician's prescription is required). If your physician recommends additional treatment cycles, subsequent fulfillments will be no cost to you.

CHANTIX
CHANTIX is a prescription medicine to help adults quit smoking. It contains no nicotine and helps reduce the urge to smoke. A prescription is required for CHANTIX.

Buproprion
Buproprion is a generic form of Zyban, another effective smoking cessation pharmaceutical. A prescription is required for Buproprion.

CHANTIX (varenicline), available by Pfizer, is covered under the Duke Health Plans. Bupropion another prescription drug used to help smokers quit smoking, is also available under the Duke Health Plans and is available as a generic drug.

  • Covered employees and their covered adult dependents should have their prescriptions filled at the Duke Outpatient Pharmacy in Duke Clinic, located on the first floor across from the gift shop.
     
  • Covered employees and their covered adult dependents at Durham Regional Hospital should have their prescriptions filled at the Duke Outpatient Pharmacy or via mail order by calling 919-684-2908.
     
  • Covered Duke Raleigh Hospital employees and their covered adult dependents should have their prescriptions filled at the Plaza Pharmacist, located on the first floor of the hospital or by calling 919-954-3921.
