Ways Managers can Recognize Duke Medicine's Anniversary of Tobacco Independence
Enable and encourage staff to attend the Anniversary Garden Party July 1, 2008 3-5 PM
Accompany staff to the Garden Party event
Present staff with the Tobacco-free Anniversary pin (contact LIVE for LIFE to order pins 684-3136 option 1) and Congratulations Card
Feature a staff member's successful quit story in your staff newsletter
Publicly acknowledge quitters (with their permission) at staff gathering or meeting
Organize a luncheon for tobacco quitters and their supporting staff members
Circulate an email generally recognizing those who have quit (with their permission)
Offer staff members a role in promoting health in the workplace
Set up an information table the week of the anniversary (June 30th-July 4, 2008) providing information on LIVE for LIFE Tobacco Cessation programs
Ask staff to promote or co-facilitate with a LIVE for LIFE QuitSmart health educator, a departmental QuitSmart series-recruiting 5 or more staff members who want to
quit
Make information cards (large version | small version) available at your points of entry so visitors and patients are fully aware of the Tobacco-free policy and tobacco cessation resources
Contribute to the spirit of compliance by continuing to approach those who are smoking on Duke Medicine Property. Inform them that the Duke Medicine campus is a tobacco-free
health provider and share with them this card (large version | small version) reminding them of community tobacco cessation support programs
