Discover some ways managers can help celebrate the one year anniversary of being tobacco free.
This Independence Day, Duke Medicine will celebrate an important anniversary - one year of being tobacco free. Being 100 percent tobacco free maintains Duke Medicine's
commitment to our patients and their families, employees, physicians and the many communities we serve.
In support of being tobacco free, many employees across Duke Medicine have made significant changes by choosing to quit using tobacco products. On Tuesday, July 1,
employees are invited to celebrate their dedication to becoming tobacco free at the Doris Duke Center in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The event
will celebrate and acknowledge the commitment of the individuals who have quit using tobacco products as well as the support individuals who have helped champion their efforts.
During the first week of July, Duke Medicine entities will host individual educational and celebratory activities in acknowledgement of the one-year anniversary. Duke Hospital,
Duke Clinic and Duke Raleigh Hospital will host informational tables in the main lobbies on Monday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 2. Durham Regional Hospital will host informational
tables in front of cafeteria on Monday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 2.
Over the past twelve months, Duke Medicine campuses installed signage and developed patient information and educational materials about the initiative. Employees and patients
additionally received information about available smoking cessation resources as well as information about the health benefits of being tobacco free.
Congratulations and thank you to those at Duke Medicine who have made significant changes toward providing care in a healthier environment for our patients, visitors and
employees and who have made Duke Medicine "Proud to be tobacco free."
