Running shoes are not created equally. When it comes to running, understanding your foot strike pattern can help you prevent injury. Springing Into ShapeBelinda Adams wanted to exercise, lose weight and lower her blood pressure. To reach her goals, she joined the Duke Run/Walk Club.

Fall Season Begins August 18!

Join the Duke Run/Walk Club and discover how a few extra steps a week can enhance your overall health and wellbeing. Offered each spring and fall, this 12-week program for all fitness levels, from new exercisers to those training for 5K events.

The Duke Run/Walk Club is open to all Duke faculty and staff. Participants are divided into groups based on fitness level.

Sign up for the group that best fits your fitness level. If you're unsure of your fitness level, take a simple Fitness Level Assessment.

Meeting Times & Locations

Club meets every Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. (optional strength training exercises begin at 5 p.m.) at:

  • East Campus Track (Map)
    Flat, beginner course (1 loop = 1.7 miles)
    Meet across from Whole Foods at the East Campus Wall. Ideal for:
    • Beginner Walkers
    • Beginner Walk to Run
       
  • West Campus Trail (Map)
    Hilly, advanced course (1 loop = 2.9 miles)
    Meet in front of Wallace Wade Stadium. Ideal for:
    • Advanced Walkers
    • Advanced Run/Walkers
    • Advanced Runners

Parking

Parking is available at the following locations after 5 p.m. (parking maps).

  • East Campus: In the 705 Broad Street parking lot or along Broad Street.
  • West Campus: Along Bassett Drive or around Wallace Wade Stadium.
