Starting a New Job
Duke University Health System (DUHS) requires a probationary period of 90 calendar days for both bi-weekly and monthly paid employees. The purpose of this period is to provide time to familiarize the employee with his/her department and job responsibilities. During this 90 day probationary period, an employee accrues Paid Time Off, but is not eligible to use it
except on designated holidays until after the 90 day probationary period.
If an employee transfers to a new job a 90-day trial period begins. Employees will continue to accrue PTO during this period and will be able to use it with supervisory approval.
