Frequently Asked Questions
Can I send in more than one photo?
Yes, you can submit as many as you like.
I'm having a hard time visualizing what you mean by "why is your health important to you"? What does that "look like"?
The photo(s) should show why you feel it's important for you to stay healthy. Some people have sent photos showing them:
- Interacting with their families, friends and significant others
- Playing with their pets
- Gardening, canoeing, fishing, biking, hiking and pursuing other hobbies
- Enjoying their vacations
I'm not sure that I understand what is necessary for high-res, and I don't know if my photo is 300 dpi. Can I still enter?
Yes. We will try our best to work with you on this. You can also send us prints-we promise they'll be returned to you.
I have a terrific photo that shows why I stay healthy, but it was taken by a professional photographer. Can I still send it in?
Unfortunately only amateur photographs are eligible for the contest.
Do I have to be in the photo?
No, you can be the person taking the photo or just looking on.
When will the winners be announced?
Photos submitted will be judged in mid-August by Chris Hildreth, Duke's director of university photography. Winning photographs will be used in
Duke's Open Enrollment materials and other benefits-related communications. The grand prize winner will be notified just prior to Open Enrollment
(Open Enrollment runs from October 4 through October 14, 2008).
What are the prizes?
The grand prize winner receives a weekend trip for two to the Sanderling Resort and Spa on the Outer Banks. Other prize winners have their choice
of a gift certificate good for $50 at Whole Foods, Dick's Sporting Goods, or 9th Street Active Feet.
