The "Sandwich Generation"
Caring for your aging parents and your children can be challenging. There are ways to reduce caregiver stress and maintain a healthy sense of well being during these challenging years.
4. Take care of yourself
- Watch your diet, get plenty of rest and exercise regularly
- Be realistic about what you can do-don't fail to ask others for help
- Give yourself credit for what you have accomplished
- Remember there is a difference between caring and doing-sometimes we demonstrate how much we care by allowing our loved one some independence to perform tasks they can still perform
- Accept changes as they occur-it is normal to grieve when there are changes...in your situation and your loved ones
Adapting to changes as your life circumstances change = a healthy and satisfying life.
