Cultural Highlights 

The Duke Chapel is the centerpiece of Duke's west campus and has a 210 foot tower with a 50 bell carillon.  It is home to 13 different religious groups and is the most active university chapel in America.

The Sarah P. Duke Gardens is one of the premier gardens of the Southeast.  It has five miles of walkways to enjoy.

Duke University Museum of Art has an impressive art collection. It is known for the Brummer Collection of Medieval and Renaissance art and the pre-Columbian collection from Central and South America.

The Blue Devils are one of the nation's strongest university athletic programs for men and women.  Duke's men's basketball team is highly ranked and won the national championship in 1991, 1992, 2001. 

The Duke Primate Center is the only university-based facility in the world devoted to breeding and studying primates that evolved before monkeys and apes.

The Department of Biology Greenhouses have the most diverse collection of plants under glass in the Southeast, with more than 2000 species from many environments.

The Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture was designed to recognize and appreciate the heritage of black Americans.  The Center features an art gallery, library and lounge and sponsors speakers on various issues. 

Duke Forest covers 7700 acres of land and serves as a natural outdoor lab for Duke and neighboring universities.  It has numerous trails open to visitors for hiking and running, as well as picnic sites.

The Broadway at Duke series features professional actors in recent Broadway productions. 

Cultural Services and Human Resource Services sponsor an annual Broadway-caliber production to showcase the performing arts talents of Duke staff members.

Each week, you can choose from the offerings of two different film series at minimal cost.  Quad Flicks presents recent films, while Freewater Films features films focusing on a specific theme which varies from semester to semester.
