Transportation and Parking Assistance

Bus Service on the Duke campus
You can use the free buses that service routes from East to West Campus, outlying staff parking lots and surrounding areas such as Trent Drive, Broad Street, First Union Building and Central Campus.  The schedules for these bus routes are available from the Information Desk at the Bryan Center (684-2323) and from Transportation Services, 712 Wilkerson Avenue (684-2218).

Express Bus Service to UNC/Chapel Hill
Free bus service to and from Chapel Hill is extended to those affiliated with Duke or UNC courtesy of the Robertson Scholars program. To learn more visit from the Duke/UNC Express Schedule page.

Private Vehicle
To drive and park a private vehicle at or near your worksite, you may need to obtain a parking decal from University Parking Service or Medical Center Traffic & Parking.

Safe Rides
If you work at night, Duke offers options to transport you to and from your car.  University staff members can contact Safe Rides at 684-SAFE.  Health System and Medical Center staff members should contact the security alert van escort at 684-2020.

Special telephones (recognizable by a blue light) are strategically placed in parking lots and throughout the campus so you can contact these services.  These telephones also provide a direct line to the Duke Police Department if you feel unsafe or notice any suspicious activity.

Emergency Transportation During Severe Weather/Emergency Conditions

Campus services will be coordinated by a control desk in Auxiliary Services (681-3200)

Duke University Hospital and Medical Center will maintain a control desk through Hospital Administration (681-SNOW/681-7669)
