Run, Walk, Get Fit While Having Fun
Next Duke Run/Walk Club Begins February 24
Joining the Duke Run/Walk Club is easy - just show up. The free 12-week training program, which begins February 24, includes cardiovascular and strength training for all fitness levels, from new exercisers and beginning runners to those training for half - marathons. The Run/Walk Club provides employees with an opportunity to exercise in a group setting and have fun while getting fit. Participants from previous programs have seen tremendous results in their fitness levels, from lower blood pressure, body fat percentage and cholesterol to increases in self-esteem and confidence.
As part of the Duke Run/Walk Club, participants receive a free t-shirt for joining and free fitness evaluations at the beginning and end of the training program so they can see how they have improved during the course of the 12 weeks. Participants can also choose to run or walk with the Run/Walk Club at local races throughout the season. The Run/Walk Club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. in front of Wallace Wade Stadium, so participants can choose to exercise at the time that works best for them. Each training session will last approximately 45 minutes.
