Nominations Being Accepted For Presidential Award
Duke is now accepting nominations for the 2006 Presidential Award. This Blue Ribbon Award recognizes a faculty
or staff member that has made distinctive contributions to Duke University and health system within the past calendar
year. Nominations for the Presidential Award are being accepted until February 17, 2006.
Twenty-four staff members will be selected for their outstanding job performance. One Presidential Award and five
Meritorious Service Awards will be selected from each of the following job categories:
- Clerical/Office Support (Staff Specialists, Office Assistants, etc.)
- Clinical/Professional Non Managerial (Lab Technicians, Nurses, Coordinators, clinical or professional personnel in a non managerial capacity)
- Service/Maintenance (EVS, Facilities, service positions)
- Managerial (Exempt, supervisory personnel at Level 15 and below)
A nominee's contribution should reflect at least one of the following:
- An individual whose overall performance has regularly and consistently exceeded expectations, and has reflected a high level of service, trustworthiness, and respect
- An individual who has completed an especially formidable task for the University and/or Health System
- An individual who developed a new (or improved an existing) process that resulted in a significant boost in productivity and/or cost savings
All regular faculty and staff (30 hours a week or more; bi-weekly and monthly) employed in their current position for at least one full year are eligible for this award. Anyone may submit nominations, but only nominations with an authorized signature from a supervisor, manager, or department head will be considered. Nomination forms may be accessed electronically at
the Employee Recognition Web Site or picked up in the office of Staff & Family Programs, 154 Trent Hall.
