Fourth Professional Development Institute Class Graduates
The 21 students who graduated from Duke's Professional Development Institute (PDI)
in January are already beginning to interview for higher-level jobs within Duke.
This graduating class was the fourth cohort to complete the intensive, 10-month curriculum that prepares employees for general or medical office administration. Participants learn computer programs used at Duke, polish their customer service, office etiquette, and career-planning skills, and have access to a mentor within Duke.
Through Duke's Professional Development Institute (PDI), you can take advantage of a variety of resources that can show you how to take charge of your career and achieve your professional goals at Duke. Whether you're seeking to enhance your skills or find a challenging new position, PDI's resources can help.
New Online Resource Center Introduced
The Professional Development Institute has introduced a new
online resource center that shows you how to
take charge of your career and achieve your professional goals at Duke. The new online Resource Center provides information on searching for jobs, informational interviewing, transferring to new positions, educational opportunities at Duke, and professional development planning, as well as other web sites that can assist with your professional development.
PDI also offers an on-site Resource Center, located at 3616 Duke Clinic (Yellow Zone), that offers a central location for you to access information and support to help you achieve your professional goals at Duke. The Resource Center offers a variety of career information such as career focused brochures, publications and books as well as a computer kiosk for convenient access to Duke's Resume Builder and other online job related resources. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
In addition, you can set up an appointment with a professional development specialist to discuss topics such as resume writing, goal setting, career planning, educational opportunities and job interviewing. To schedule an appointment, call 684-5406 or email
