Annual Personal Benefits Statements Mailed to Faculty & Staff
In mid-July, full-time Duke faculty and staff should receive their annual personal benefits statement. The statements, which will be mailed to the home address of faculty and staff, provide an overview of an individual's total compensation at Duke, including benefits and pay.
The format for this year's statement is different than in years past. This year's statement provides an overview of pay, benefit contributions, and other benefit options. It was designed to complement additional financial tools and information available on the web.
"Because we know that our employees' lives changes more frequently than once a year, we are providing more regular updates and resources online," said Lois Ann Green, director of Benefits.
Beginning this year, retirement account information will be updated quarterly through secure access to the
Retirement Manager web site. This secure web site offers resources to help faculty and staff plan for their financial future by enabling them to review their retirement savings online, project how much they need to save for retirement, change their current contributions in the 403(b) plan, and reallocate their contributions in the 403(b) plan.
The site also includes financial education materials and calculators to help determine such things as how much they may need to save for their child's college education or how much life insurance they and their family may need.
The Retirement Manager will be updated with the second quarter 2004 balance information on July 30, 2004.
"Faculty and staff are encouraged to take time to review the personal benefits statement and the Retirement Manager web site to gauge whether or not they are on track to meet their retirement goals and determine if there are other benefits or services of which they may want to take advantage," Green said.
Additional information about the many benefit programs provided through Duke
is available at the
Benefits page. For questions about the benefits statement or for those without access to the web, please call the Human Resources Information Center at 684-5600 for assistance.
