Are You on Track to Meet Your Financial Goals?
Human Resources Introduces New Financial Planning Resources
As part of the continuing effort to help faculty, staff and their families plan for their financial future, two new resources are being introduced with the distribution of the annual personal benefits statement in early May.
For the first time, faculty and staff will be able to access retirement information and additional financial planning tools through a
new secured web site. Also, in early summer, Benefits will offer a wide range of free financial workshops for employees and their families as part of the first annual Financial Fitness Week.
Each year a personalized benefits statement is provided to full-time faculty and staff. The statement provides a comprehensive picture of the different ways Duke invests in each individual in terms of pay and benefits.
"This year, employees will be able to access additional information and tools through the new web site to help them determine if they are on track to meet their financial goals," said Lois Ann Green, director of Benefits. "The site includes calculators to help employees determine college saving needs, life insurance needs, and retirement income needs based on their personal benefits information."
The site also includes information about financial considerations for life events such as marriage and the birth of a child. Instructions on how to access the site will be included in the mailing of the personal benefits statement.
Financial Fitness Week will take place in early summer and will provide an opportunity for participants to learn more about how to plan for their financial future through a broad range of workshops conducted at locations throughout Duke University and Health System. The workshops are designed for everyone from the beginning investor to those approaching retirement. Additional information regarding specific workshops, dates, times and locations for Financial Fitness Week will be distributed in late spring.
"These new resources, along with the distribution of the personal benefits statements, will help provide faculty and staff with the information and resources they need to better understand and evaluate their financial situation and plan for their future," said Green.
