Don't miss April 15 tax deadlines for reimbursement accounts
April 04, 2011
Because April 15 is a holiday in the District of Columbia, federal tax returns are not due until April 18. However, April 15 is still the deadline for submitting Health and Dependent Care Reimbursement Account receipts from 2010.
Faculty and staff must submit all receipts by April 15 for services provided from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2010 to receive reimbursement. Receipts can be scanned and submitted as attachments to an e-mail or submitted online.
Employees who meet certain income levels (such as earning less than $22,620 for a one-member household or less than $29,580 for a two-member household) have one last chance to take advantage of free tax preparation services offered by Duke Law School's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. VITA volunteers will be at the Duke University Federal Credit Union on Friday, April 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call (919) 684-6704 to make an appointment.
