Are there faculty and staff in your area who take special care to respect and value differing backgrounds and points of view? Have you worked with a team that has that special spark of collaboration that advances Duke's mission?
It is time to nominate these people for the Diversity Award or Teamwork Award. Nominations for both awards are due by Sept. 10 to Human Resources.
"These awards honor people who exemplify the core values of our institution," said Kyle Cavanaugh, vice president of Human Resources. "Nominating an individual or a group, especially during a time of budgetary constraint, reinforces how much we value their work."
The Diversity Award is given to one individual from the Health System and one from the University. Each winner receives a crystal bowl and a check for $750.
The Teamwork Award is given to two teams, one from the University and one from the Health System. Each team receives a plaque with the team name and their choice of a team event not to exceed $1,000 in cost.
The winners will be honored at a luncheon with President Richard H. Brodhead and Chancellor for Health Affairs Victor J. Dzau in November.
"It was a great honor for our staff to be nominated for and be presented with the Teamwork Award last November," said Hope Mangum, director of the Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center. "We used the prize money for a celebratory party at the Hilton Hotel, relaxing and enjoying each other's company without the pressure of work."
All forms and requirements are listed on the Human Resources website.
