Expanded Smoking Cessation Options
In support of Duke Medicine's recent announcement to be tobacco-free by July 4, 2007, LIVE FOR LIFE,
Duke's comprehensive employee health improvement program, has announced expanded smoking cessation options
for all Duke faculty and staff (regardless of benefit status). Since smoking by another member of the
household can influence a person's ability to quit, LIVE FOR LIFE is also making all smoking cessation
programs available to spouses and same-sex partners through 2007.
Smoking cessation options available through LIVE FOR LIFE include:
- Smoking Personal Action Booklet
- QuitSmart Class Series (three-part class series)
- QuitSmart Kit (self-directed kit with CD)
- Partners In Quitting telephone based counseling (nine counseling sessions)
- Living Free online course (three-week online course)
Also, beginning January 1, 2007, nicotine replacement will be available at a reduced cost to Duke faculty
and staff if used in conjunction with a smoking cessation program. These over-the-counter
smoking cessation aids will be available through the pharmacy located in the Duke Clinic (Duke South) building.
Additional information about this benefit will be made available in January.
Please support the tobacco-free initiative by sharing this information with your staff.
