Four Employees Receive Top Honor from Duke President
Once a year, Duke University President Richard H. Brodhead hosts a luncheon to honor special employees at Duke -- employees
who have been chosen as the Presidential Award Winners.
Nominated by their supervisors and co-workers, these employees are selected for the award because of the outstanding job performance,
special accomplishments, and overall contributions to the Duke community. This year, the four winners have something else in common --
long tenures at Duke. Their combined total years of service easily tops 100.
The Presidential Award winners for 2005 are Becky Tesh (Duke Center for Aging),
Irma Ferrell (Duke Eye Center),
Travis Lewis (Duke University Facilities Management), and
Polly Garner (Duke University Medical Center Department of Neurobiology).
The four winners -- one each in Clinical/Professional (non-managerial), Clerical/Office Support, Service/Maintenance, and Managerial
-- and 20 meritorious award winners were feted at a luncheon on April 26.
Meritorious Award Winners
Every year, 20 employees are chosen from the pool of nominations for the Duke University Presidential Awards as Meritorious Award Winners.
Duke President Richard H. Brodhead also honored these winners at an April 26 luncheon.
