General Description of the Job Class
Assist the Director of the Occupational and Environmental Safety Office by providing administrative and technical expertise, leadership, direction and program coordination for divisions, programs and activities within the Occupational and Environmental Safety Office.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Provide overall administrative direction and coordination of operational budgets and organizational and business matters for divisions, programs and activities within the Occupational and Environmental Safety Office.
Provide leadership and direction for information technology development activities in the Occupational and Environmental Safety Office and for safety training programs for the Institution.
Provide leadership and direction for technical staff in the Occupational and Environmental Safety Office to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations relating to occupational safety and health.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Masters degree in occupational safety and health or related field
Doctorate in an area of occupational safety and health or related field and 10 years of experience; OR Masters degree and 15 years of experience.
Experience must include at least 7 years of management experience.
|Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:||
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, Masters Level (CHMM) or equivalent preferred.
|Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:||
Proficient knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards and policy formulation.
Proficiency in budgeting, personnel supervision, regulatory affairs and program management.
Ability to provide leadership to subordinates.
Ability to apply creative problem solving to recognize and analyze needs and design programs to effectively address them.
Ability to plan and coordinate multiple, diverse programs simultaneously.
Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills, problem solving, program development, computer skills, strong leadership and team building skills.
Ability to work with a variety of disciplines and levels across departments and the Institution.
