Occupational Summary

Provide support to clinical research staff within Site Based Research (SBR) units and facilitate the routing of patient charges through review of billing grids. Designate and separate standard of care expenses from clinical research related expenses before clinical research projects begin. Draft SOPs within CRSO to identify best practices. Provide input regarding Best Practices into institutional policy development.

Work Performed

Able to perform all of the duties of a CRSO Support Assistant.

Portfolio

Serve as facilitator for flow of information between Study Coordinators and the PRMO when questions regarding understanding of study charges to patient billing arise.

Research daily changes to studies and how the changes affect other areas.

Resolve discrepancies/errors in checks received.

Quality Assurance

Review billing grids submitted by clinical research staff within Site- Based Research (SBR) Unit against Research Project Protocol, Informed Consent, Budget and Legal Agreement.

Review activities designated in the protocol as standard of care versus clinical research related expenses and verify that each expense is correctly categorized to streamline expense allocation with the PRMO.

Confer with study teams for clarification before research begins.

At this level, all grids are subject to a limited review after Specialist review.

Study Conduct Support

Assist Education Manager with developing content for communicating with the research community as well as maintaining the systems that facilitate these communications through designing and maintaining the website and maintaining courses within the Learning Management system.

Understand processes as set forth under OCRC, ORA, IRB, and OSP and develop communications content for the research community.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires knowledge of principles usually acquired through a Bachelors degree.

 

Experience:

Two years of experience as a CRSO Support Assistant OR three years of experience working in hospital access, physician office or billing and collections, medical terminology or clinical research positions or combination.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Employees in this classification must have passed the internal requirement of:
1. 5 consecutive error-free grid reviews before being classified as a Specialist.
2. Process 50 checks without error
3. Make 50 consecutive Billing Risk Determinations correctly.
4. Demonstrated ability to resolve discrepancies in checks received.
