Occupational Summary:
This position reports to the Dean of the Divinity School, works in tandem with
the other associate deans, and supervises all the support staff in Academic
Affairs, Faculty Services, and the Media Center. This position also hires and
supervises the roughly 70 teaching and research assistants hired each year,
as well as the adjunct instructors. The Associate Dean of Academic Administration
will oversee the Office of Academic Affairs as a whole, as well as work closely
with the Dean on issues pertaining to the daily operations of the school.
Work Performed:
Develop, plan, and implement the curriculum in cooperation with the faculty.
Work with fellow Associate Deans and faculty to conduct an ongoing evaluation of the curriculum and how it serves the formation of the students, for example: identifying areas were new faculty need to be recruited.
Support the work of other Associate Deans.
Plan and implement the budget for Academic Affairs, and consult with the Dean and Director of General Administration on the overall budget for the school.
Work with the Dean on strategic planning and the governance of the school. Consult with the Dean, Associate Deans, and administrative staff regarding the relationship between what is charged for tuition, how much financial aid is offered, the success of recruiting and retaining students, and the annual operating budget of the school.
Oversee the tenure and promotion process for faculty.
Hire and supervise teaching and research assistants, and adjunct instructors.
Work with the Dean, faculty, and staff to accomplish objectives of the school.
Oversee Faculty Services and the Media Center.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
Master's degree in Theology or directly related field. Ph.D. preferred
EXPERIENCE
At least 5 years experience in academic administration
OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
