What fitness facilities are participating in the Duke Fitness Club?
Are membership rates the same for each facility?
No, membership rates vary between all of the facilities due to the types of
programs/services offered and type of membership you choose.
Will payroll deduction be available for all of the facilities?
Yes, LIVE FOR LIFE will handle payroll deductions for all
facilities. Individual, couple,
and family memberships will be deducted from the employee's
paycheck. The payroll authorization form will be included
in your Exercising Your Options enrollment kit. When
you receive your paycheck, the deduction will be noted as
LIVE FOR LIFE. If you are paid on a biweekly schedule,
the membership fee will be divided into two payments per month.
If you are paid monthly, the membership fee will be taken
out in its entirety in your monthly paycheck.
Depending on your enrollment date, you may need to pay one or two
months up-front before payroll deduction can begin.
Once I join the Duke Fitness Club, can I exercise at any of the facilities in the network?
No, currently your membership is only with the specific gym you join. Some clubs are
part of a network of fitness facilities that allow members to exercise at other
locations for a minimal or no additional fee. If you travel
outside of North Carolina on business or vacation, be sure to ask your club if they
have a national agreement with other facilities.
What about other fitness facilities in the area?
The Duke Fitness Club includes 11 local facilities (for a total of 27 Triangle locations). LIVE FOR LIFE will continue
to evaluate the program for possible expansion in other local
areas and through other facilities.
Do I have to sign a contract for the Duke Fitness Club?
LIVE FOR LIFE requires a three-month commitment to join any
of the facilities in the Duke Fitness Club. After three
months, you can cancel at any time. Please be aware the cancellation
process takes at least 3-4 weeks due to payroll deadlines.
At what facilities can I lap swim?
Almost all of the facilities have swimming pools, but some
are designed for lap swimming while some cater more to aqua
aerobics. The pools designed for lap swimming are located
at Wilson Recreation Center, Duke Health and Fitness Center,
Triangle SportsPlex, Chapel Hill/Carrboro YMCA and the Millennium
Sports Club Chatham County location.
