Duke Farmers Market — Farmers

All farmers at the Duke Farmers Market are locally owned and operated, and almost all are family owned. Many of them have ties to Duke.

Brock's Produce
Brock's Produce offers strawberries, squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, potatoes, okra, onions, melons, peaches, plums, grapes, and peppers.

In business for: 16 years, Mike Brock has farmed all his life.
With Duke Farmers Market for: 8 years — a Founding Farmer
Unique because: We take pride in our product and strive to bring customers the best produce we can provide. Brock's is a true family farm, with three generations working together.
What we enjoy about the Duke Farmers Market: The customers really enjoy our produce and we enjoy them.
Other locations: Produce stand off I-40 near Warsaw.
Coon Rock Farm is a sustainable, 55-acre family-run farm just outside of Hillsborough. It provides organically-grown crops and pasture-raised antibiotic and hormone free chicken, eggs, pork, lamb and goat meat. Coon Rock Farm also participates in the Mobile Farmers Market.

In business for: 4 years, on land that has been continuously farmed for over 100 years.
With the Duke Farmers Market for: 2 years
Unique because: Love — we love what we do and we do it passionately. The farm will exist long after we are gone, and our hope is to leave the land in a much better condition than we found it for the next generation of farmers.
What we enjoy about the Duke Farmers Market: We just love selling what we grow.
Fenrock FarmFernrock Farm
Fernrock Farm sells bedding plants during the first few weeks of the season in easy to carry packs. Plants include annuals, vegetables, herbs, and perennials. Some tolerate dry conditions. Fernrock Farm also participates in the Mobile Farmers Market.

With Duke Farmers Market for: New farm in 2008
Unique because: Fernrock Farm in Orange County uses sustainable agricultural practices and waters crops from the farm pond.
Lyon Farms
Lyon Farms has been in business for more than 100 years, providing a wide assortment of quality fruits and as well as some types of herbs. Ciders and even ice cream are also available. Lyon Farms also participates in the Mobile Farmers Market.

In business for: More than 100 years
With the Duke Farmers Market for: 8 years — a Founding Farmer
Unique because: Mark Lyon is a fifth generation farmer.
What we enjoy about the Duke Farmers Market: The people and working with LIVE FOR LIFE.
Other locations: Farmers Markets in Durham and Carrboro. Also promotes seasonal Pick-Your-Own Berries.
Max Lee Farms
Max Lee Farms produces blueberries, blackberries, peaches, cut flowers and vegetables. Max Lee also sells fruit grown by other local farmers

In business for: Over 20 years
With the Duke Farmers Market for: 2 years
Unique because: The variety of cut flowers and fruit we offer and the fact that we're a father-son business. Max also worked with Duke for more than 20 years as a safety consultant before becoming a full-time farmer. He is also "farm raised."
What we enjoy about the Duke Farmers Market: The people.

Muddy Dog Roasting CompanyMuddy Dog Roasting Company
Muddy Dog Roasting Company is a small-batch, artisan coffee roaster located in Morrisville. "We work hard to source the best green coffee available, direct from growers and certified whenever possible. We have an intense focus on quality, freshness and customer service." Owner Jim Pellegrini is a Duke alum, Fuqua Class of 2001.
R & V Farm
Robert Jones of R & V Farm sells greens, squash, onions, beets, rutabagas, watermelons and other vegetables that are grown on his family farm in Snow Hill.
With the Duke Farmers Market for: New this year beginning May 30
Unique because: R & V Farm is in the three year process of becoming an organic farm.
Currently not attending market — will be back in September. All of Sunshine Lavender Farm's products are created with lavender grown using organic practices. The farm also includes a small vegetable garden, chickens, horses and extensive flower gardens. This local farm is within 25 minutes of Duke.

In business for: 7 years
With the Duke Farmers Market for: 5 years
Unique because: Sunshine Lavender Farm is the first lavender farm in central North Carolina and possibly the state. Lavender is the most popular fragrance worldwide and reduces stress naturally.
What we enjoy about the Duke Farmers Market: The people!
