A great way to spice up your exercise routine is by joining a fitness class. Try these new options offered through LIVE FOR LIFE and enjoy a more active lifestyle.


Participating in group classes can add variety to your workout program, but don't let them take over. For a balanced exercise routine, it's important to include weight-training.
Meet one-on-one with a LIVE FOR LIFE fitness specialist to learn how to develop a balanced work-out plan. The fitness staff can help you determine a suitable, motivational

Eligibility
All Duke University and Health System faculty and staff, retirees and their spouses or same-sex partners, and dependents are eligible to participate.
Payment
Pricing information is included in the description of each class. Cash, check or credit cards are accepted. Please make out checks to LIVE FOR LIFE and send them to Box 3200, Duke South Clinic.

To register for these classes, call 919-684-3136, option 1, e-mail jess.ward@duke.edu, or visit the LIVE FOR LIFE office
in the Duke South Clinic, Red Zone, room 04290, ground level. Participation is based on a first come, first serve basis. All registered participants will receive a confirmation and reminder e-mail.
Classes
Cardio Hip Hop
Like to exercise but rather be dancing? Do both! This class combines aerobic steps with hip dance moves. It's a great way to improve cardiovascular endurance and strengthen
muscles. Individuals of all fitness levels are welcome to attend this beginner/intermediate level class, and you'll learn to dance like a pro.
- Instructor: Erica Dixon, certified personal trainer, aerobics instructor, and a physical education instructor at North Carolina Central University.

- Class Meets: Tuesdays from 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

ChiWalking/Running
This class covers the fundamentals of how to walk and run by using ChiWalking/Running form and techniques. This approach makes walking and running easier on the body and
helps improve the aches and pains associated with walking and running incorrectly. After each session there will be a short run of 20-30 minutes for anyone interested.

- Location: East Campus Wall (on Broad Street, across from Whole Foods)

Zumba
Zumba is a dance-aerobic workout that uses footwork and body movements from Salsa, and is coupled with a fusion of Latin and international music. Besides raising the heart rate, Zumba works the quadricep, hip and abdominal muscles. Routines include aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba requires no special workout gear or equipment.

Mat Yoga
Yoga offers a multilevel approach to a healthier you. Learn how to unwind, stretch out, and tone up - all in one class. Yoga teaches you how to relax, breathe, and focus,
using stress management approaches that you can practice every day - breathing, alignment, and posture are important aspects of total body health and awareness. Yoga will
also help you release tight muscles and joints, gently and safely. In addition, this class will help you build strength, balance, and flexibility through a series of poses and stretches
designed to accommodate all fitness levels, including beginners. The philosophy behind this class is to make yoga accessible to everyone, regardless of fitness level. The class will
teach relaxation techniques and approaches that you can apply to other aspects of your life.
