Meet the Experts
Jeffrey Beamon
Jeffrey's love for fitness started in 1993 when he started playing tackle football at the age of 8. That same year he started playing organized basketball. He continued to play both sports every year until he was 18, picking up track when he turned 15. He went on to play one year of collegiate football. Jeffrey's enjoyment of sports training encouraged him to pursue a career as a fitness specialist.
Jeffrey obtained his bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science from East Carolina University. He gained an enormous amount of experience through his organized sports career and an internship as a fitness specialist at the IBM Club Fitness & Recreation Center. He has experience in fitness testing, fitness consultations, and developing workout programs.
Jeffrey is currently a fitness specialist with LIVE FOR LIFE at Duke.
Vicky Yeingst
Vicky Yeingst is a fitness specialist for LIVE FOR LIFE at Duke. She provides fitness assessments and fitness consultations for Duke faculty and staff, and helps them to begin exercise programs. Vicky is a certified personal trainer and triathlon coach. She has coached more than 300 people since 2001.
Vicky holds a degree in business administration and recently started her own company called Transform 2 Fitness, which specializes in personal training and multi-sport coaching.
Vicky got into fitness and training more than 20 years ago after quitting smoking, and now leads a very active life. She has completed more than 75 triathlons including two Ironman events, five marathons, and many road races. Vicky is planning to train for another Ironman event in 2008 after she runs the Boston Marathon in April.
Vicky enjoys working with others to help them reach a state of health and fitness that transforms and improves their physical and mental capacity. Her goals are to promote healthy lifestyles that stick for life, not just for a season. Getting into fitness herself and becoming a fitness leader for others changed Vicky's life. Her ambition is to help transform others, too, so that they can experience a better quality of life.
