Week 5 Update

February 17, 2009

At the halfway point, I am beginning to feel like this process of getting healthier is becoming a habit. I find it easier to make the healthier choice about food, and I am beginning to enjoy my time at the gym. I have really begun to look forward to my Wednesday evening aerobics class. It is the shortest 45 minutes of exercise I have ever experienced. In fact, I enjoyed the kickboxing segment so much that I am looking for a permanent kickboxing class to take. If you've never tried kickboxing, it's a really fun way to work lots of muscles you never even knew you had!

Another way I know I am getting used to working out is that Mary Ann keeps making my workouts more challenging and I still like it. I think it's because I always have variety, and just when I start to get the hang of something and think it's easy, she throws me a curveball to keep me interested. The changes she implements often make the workout harder, but I have found that it makes me feel great to know I can add some challenge to my routine and still like it. Actually, I think I like the harder stuff more than the easy stuff!

Unfortunately, I have not had a lot of success at the scale so far. I have lost weight, but then the next week I gain it back. I'm not sure what's going on there, because I am not splurging on food. Maybe it's just the way I lose weight... lose a lot one week, gain some back the next week, then lose more the next. At any rate, I am trying not to get discouraged by the numbers because I know I feel better, and eventually, I will lose weight following the nutrition and exercise plans I am using now.
