Week 4 Update
February 9, 2009
This week had its major ups and downs. I had a great beginning of the week: following my calorie intake, keeping a food journal, bringing a healthier lunch to work, and getting in my cardio workout and strength training with Mary Ann. Then on Thursday I got sick and everything seemed to just go out the window. I wasn't able to make my nutrition consultation because I was at home. I probably didn't overeat, really, because I wasn't very hungry and slept a lot. I did have trouble keeping track of what I ate, though, and I'm pretty sure I was low on the fruits and vegetables and higher on carbs, just because the carbs were handy and quick. I don't want to beat up on myself too much, though, because I was sick, and I did the best I could at the time. I am starting to feel better now, so I plan to have a great week this week.
All in all, I feel so much better when I exercise and when I am in control
of what I eat. I feel like I've really accomplished something when I
finish a workout. I also enjoy the satisfaction of knowing I am getting
healthier by paying more attention to what I eat. Making the small changes
each week has really helped me get used new ways of eating and exercising,
without feeling like I'm juggling too many balls in the air and getting
overwhelmed. I find I'm looking forward to my time at the gym and in my
aerobics class, and keeping a food journal is less cumbersome than it used
to be. My weight changes aside, I can see definite progress in my attitude
toward food and physical activity, which is probably more important in the
long run than just losing pounds as fast as possible.
