Swing at the Gardens!

What: Swing dance

When: Feb. 11, 8-11 p.m. Beginner lesson at 7 p.m. with Jason Sager and Kristy Milliken (free with dance admission)

Who's invited? People 16 and older

Dance experience necessary? No

Superior physical fitness necessary? No

Partner necessary? No

What to wear? Either casual or formal wear is fine, from jeans to vintage dresses. But please, no spiky heels; help us protect our beautiful wood floor. Flip-flops and clogs will also prove difficult for you when you dance. Leather-soled shoes are best.

Music: DJs Chris Owens, Kristy Milliken and Laura Windley will play classic style East Coast Swing

Food/drink: We will have some snacks and soft drinks available, but no alcoholic beverages

Parking: Free after 5 p.m.

Directions

Ticket prices: $10 in advance; $8 for students or members of Duke Gardens, CDC or TSDS (Carolina Dance Club or Triangle Swing Dance Society). At the door (cash/check only): $12 for all; $5 student rush for remaining tickets, with valid i.d.

How to buy tickets: For credit card purchases, please call Duke Gardens' registrar at 668-1707 (Mon.-Wed. & Fri., 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; Thurs., 1-5 p.m.). Or send a check to Duke Gardens Swing Dance, c/o Registrar, Duke Gardens, Duke University box 90341, Durham, NC 27708-0341. Advance sales end at noon Friday, Feb. 10. If purchasing at a discount, please note your membership or student affiliation. All purchases at the door on the night of the dance must be via cash or check.
