Friends
receive:
• The satisfaction of being part of an outstanding garden
that is open to the public without charge and is committed to
excellent horticulture.
• FLORA, a newsletter published in fall and spring.
• Sarah P. Duke Gardens Annual Report, published in the
fall.
• Invitations to special Gardens' events and programs.
Ways Friends can support
the Gardens:
• Join the Volunteer Program.
The Gardens depends upon a loyal and enthusiastic corps of volunteers
who conduct tours, teach children, conduct horticultural therapy
activities for pediatric patients in Duke Medical Center, prune,
weed, plant, assist in the greenhouse and more.
• Gifts to the Gardens' Annual Fund. These gifts provide
a vital source of unrestricted funding to be used where the need
is greatest. This is an essential fund for the Gardens' yearly
operating expenses, which go far beyond the budget provided by
the University.
• Gifts to the Endowment Funds. The Gardens depends upon
the growth of endowment funds to ensure future support for the
perpetual excellence and welfare of the Gardens.
• Gifts to honor or memorialize friends and family.
• Gifts to fund special projects in the Gardens. These are
designated for the Gardens as part of the master plan and are
available as gifts with plaques of dedication.
