The Sarah P. Duke Gardens is an historic public garden that establishes and enhances meaningful connections between people and plants. Its diverse gardens and educational programs define the art and science of horticulture and foster an understanding and appreciation of nature.
The Gardens is recognized as a model for the stewardship of the natural world through conservation, research, and sustainable environmental practices.

The Mission of the Sarah P. Duke Gardens is to create and nurture an environment for learning, inspiration, and enjoyment:

*Present diverse learning opportunities to further understanding and appreciation of the natural world, plant life, and conservation;
