Get Moving Challenge

Duke encourages faculty and staff to get fit and healthy with the Get Moving Challenge, Duke's annual employee wellness competition. Individuals and teams of co-workers have the chance to inspire each other to achieve health goals.

Health Risk Assessment

Work with a Health Professional Get started by taking a Health Risk Assessment (HRA), a questionnaire that asks about your current lifestyle and habits in various aspects of life, including physical activity, nutrition, and stress management.

DukeWELL is part of the Private Diagnostic Clinics and offers a free program to patients covered by Duke Basic or Duke Select. DukeWELL works directly with a patient's provider to improve the value, quality and ease of care to help manage chronic conditions. For patients with coronary artery disase, heart failure, hyperlipidemia, hypertension and diabetes, DukeWELL offers a 90-day care management program that rewards patients with free medications.

Duke Farmers Market

LIVE FOR LIFE sponsors the Duke Farmers Market on Fridays during the spring and summer. The market's is now open for the season.

Duke Mobile Farmers Market

Duke's Mobile Farmers Market is a convenient way to get fresh, local produce - and it isn't limited to vegetables. This seasonal, year-round market offers flowers, plants, meat and fish in addition to traditional fruit and vegetable fare. Pre-purchase your orders from various vendors and pick them up weekly at Duke Gardens, at specific work sites or arrange for at-home delivery. Several farmers also sell extra produce at tables so it is a mini-farmers market too!

Duke Fitness Club

The Duke Fitness Club includes a network of full-service fitness facilities in locations throughout North Carolina that offer Duke faculty, staff, retirees and their families discounted membership rates.

Duke Run/Walk Club

The Duke Run/Walk Club provides walking and running programs for all fitness levels. This 12-week program will help you improve your fitness level while having fun with your co-workers in a group setting. Independent participation options are also available.

Exercise & Fitness Programs

Additional fitness activities and events are available at Duke to help faculty and staff who are interested in starting an exercise program or enhancing their current exercise routine.

Nutrition Programs

LIVE FOR LIFE's nutrition programs offer a variety of tools to support your ability to live your most healthy life.  Schedule a consultation with one of our registered dietitians, enroll in an ongoing health coaching program, join a weight loss program, visit our farmers market, or utilize any of the many resources available.

LIVE FOR LIFE will partner with you during every step of your journey to freedom from tobacco. A variety of programs and resources are available to help you meet your goals.

Health Coaching Programs

If you have high blood pressure or cholesterol, it is important to manage it. The best strategy may be to make lifestyle changes — eating healthy, exercising regularly, controlling your weight and managing stress.

Mental Health & Stress

Stress is a fact of life. But when you have too much or it lasts too long, stress can take a physical and psychological toll on your health and well-being. It can aggravate existing medical conditions or create new ones. Family, finances and work issues usually top the list of causes of stress. It is important to find a healthy balance in your life. Learning how to manage your stress is your best method of treatment as well as prevention.
