Because Duke places a high value on education, financial assistance is
available for dependents of eligible employees to pursue educational
opportunities.
Tuition Grant Program
After five or more years of continuous service full time, faculty and staff
are eligible for a tuition grant benefit for their children. After a deductible,
Duke may pay up to 75% of the Duke tuition to any accredited college, university
or technical school that your child attends for an undergraduate degree. Each
child is eligible for 8 semesters, but the benefit is limited to 16 semesters
per family. This benefit is not available to employees of the Duke University
Health System hired after 12/31/98.
Your child is eligible up until the first semester or quarter after his/her
twenty-sixth birthday. The child must be your natural, adopted or stepchild
or the child of your same sex spousal equivalent. (If the child is your
partner's child rather than your child, the benefit paid may be considered
taxable income to you under the IRC.) |
