Enroll or Make Changes

Enroll in Your Duke 403(b) Retirement Plan

The Faculty and Staff Retirement Plan enables you to contribute to your retirement on a tax-deferred basis. Enrolling is a simple, two-step process.

Making Changes

You may change the amount of your 403(b) contribution or change how your contribution is allocated among investment carriers once per pay period. Please keep in mind that your change request must be entered before the cut-off date for the payroll date you choose.  Typically the cut-off date is approximately 30 days before the paycheck date.

You may change your beneficiaries or change the funds in which you invest as often as you like by contacting the investment carriers directly.

Your Default Investment Options

How your 403(b) account will be invested if you have a payroll deduction set up to contribute but do not choose a retirement plan vendor or do not select specific investment funds.

Vesting of Duke's Contribution

Vesting means ownership of the market value of your account. You are always 100% vested in your own voluntary contributions. Vesting only applies to Duke's contribution. Once you are vested, you have an irrevocable right to the amount of the Duke contribution in your account adjusted for gains or losses.
