Medical & Dental Benefits
Each employee's needs are different — that's why Duke offers different medical plans to meet the needs of Duke faculty, staff and their family members. Each health care plan covers pharmacy and mental health benefits.
Duke offers employees a choice of dental care plans, depending on the level of coverage faculty, staff and their family members may need. Both plans cover preventive, basic, and major services, but they differ in how they pay for covered services. Under each plan, participants can visit any licensed dentist.
While Duke's health plan provides coverage for annual eye exams, Duke is pleased to offer a nationwide vision care plan to manage the cost of eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as eye examinations.
Reimbursement accounts help you take advantage of tax savings on eligible health care and dependent care expenses. Duke offers you two reimbursement accounts: a Health Care Reimbursement Account (for your health care expenses not covered by insurance) and a Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (for reimbursement of day care expenses for eligible dependents).
Employees that have an on-the-job accident or injury may be eligible for benefits - including medical care and income replacement - under workers' compensation.
If you need to get a flu shot, complete a health review as part of the conditions of employment for your job, or find a form, visit the Employee Health website. You can also find contact information and directions to the Employee Occupational Health & Wellness clinics.
