Business Travel Assistance
Duke offers international help through International SOS Assistance. This
program provides our travelers the highest possible level of travel, medical and security advice and services, as well as online access to information many insurance
companies do not offer.
Duke still requires all travelers on the University's behalf to maintain health insurance which covers them while abroad. The only comprehensive
health insurance benefits abroad is the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Duke Options Plan. If you are not enrolled in this program,
you should contact the Benefits Office. If you will be abroad on an assignment that will last longer than three months, you will be allowed to transfer to the BC/BS Duke
Options Plan. Otherwise, the only coverage you have is for emergencies.
Funding
The benefit is entirely paid by Duke. You do not have to pay any premiums for the benefit.
