Child Eligibility
- Your eligible children include:
- Your natural, adopted, or stepchildren; and
- The children of your registered same-sex spousal equivalent (please note that according to Internal Revenue Service guidelines, the benefit provided for your partner's child will be considered taxable income to you).
- Your child is eligible up until the first semester or quarter after his/her twenty-sixth birthday*. The child does not have to be living with you, or be "dependent" in a financial sense, but must be your natural, adopted or stepchild.
- You may receive up to 16 semesters of the tuition grant, no more than 8 of which may be provided for any one child.
- Any degree-granting program at the associate or baccalaureate level at an approved, accredited institution of higher education, in the U.S. or elsewhere, is eligible.
- Graduate study is not covered. Additionally, the grant is provided only for the child's pursuit of his/her first undergraduate degree.
*Children of employees who were hired before January 1, 1999, will not be subject to the maximum age limitation.
Summer School
Does attendance at summer school use up any eligibility? Yes, two full sessions of summer school are counted as one semester.
