To take advantage of the special enrollment period, complete the enrollment form that you will receive in the mail in early July and return it to The Hartford in the pre-addressed return envelope.

Voluntary Disability Special Enrollment

In an effort to ensure that you have the most competitive voluntary benefits available in the market today, Duke Human Resources has negotiated a rate reduction for the voluntary short term and long term disability income programs offered by The Hartford.

Because of this rate reduction, The Hartford is offering a special enrollment period from July 1 - July 24, 2009.

About Voluntary Disability

Disability income protection can pay a portion of your income in the event of an illness or accident. The voluntary short term disability program (STD) can replace part of your weekly pay if exhaust your sick leave or Paid Time Off (PTO) before becoming eligible for long term disability (LTD) program, which is provided by Duke at no cost to employees who work 30 or more hours per week and have three years of full-time, continuous service. Employees who do not meet the eligibility requirements for Duke's LTD coverage should evaluate the voluntary Hartford LTD plan.
