The Gehman Award
2009 Gehman Award Recipient Jerry Sheehy
This award is named for Drs. Ila and Scott Gehman,
who were the initial benefactors for the Volunteer Program at
Duke Gardens. The Gehmans loved Duke Gardens and were always supportive
of its mission. The Gehman Award recognizes the outstanding volunteers
of Duke Gardens who have shown dedication while exhibiting outstanding
leadership, motivation, commitment and enthusiasm in their
tasks at Sarah P. Duke Gardens. It was created in 1998 and
is the Gardens' most prestigious award.
